Sharing the same platform as its stablemate, the Patriot, the Compass offers a choice of front-wheel or full-time four-wheel drive. Two trims are available: Sport and Limited, which have a 172-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine as standard equipment. A Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is available on the Sport trim and standard with the Limited. A 158-horsepower 2.0-liter engine, available with the CVT only, is available on the front-wheel drive base trim. Standard safety features include anti-lock brakes with brake assist, electronic stability control with roll mitigation, traction control and side-curtain air bags. The Limited trim features 18-inch alloy wheels and leather heated power seats. A multimedia infotainment system with 30-gigabyte hard drive, navigation system and UConnect wireless connectivity is available. Trail RatedĀ® 4x4 capability is available with the Freedom Drive IIĀ® Off-Road package that includes 4-wheel drive off-road mode, 17-inch alloy wheels, all-terrain tires, skid plates, brake lock differential, tow hooks, and trailer towing preparation.
New-for-2011 Jeep Compass exterior highlights include a new hood, new front fenders, new front and rear fascia, new headlamps, new LED taillamps, a new grille and new wheels. Interior upgrades for the 2011 Jeep Compass include new soft touch front-door trim panels with a padded upper surface; new center armrest; a new Jeep steering wheel with integrated audio; new cloth interior; standard speed control on all models; and new backlighting of switches. The Jeep Compass also boasts a retuned suspension for 2011, with higher spring and damping rates, added rebound springs, and an increased diameter of the rear sway bar.
